Christopher Nkunku to stay at RB Leipzig

Amid interest from Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United, RB Leipzig attacking-midfielder Christopher Nkunku is to sign a new contract, according to Leipziger Volkszeitung.

The Frenchman has a contract until 2024 but will sign a contract with an increased salary and exit clause of a reported €60m, valid from next summer, as to avoid RB Leipzig losing Nkunku on a free transfer.

European heavyweights Real Madrid, PSG and Bayern Munich have all shown an interest in signing Nkunku, who was named as Bundesliga Player of the Season after an extraordinary campaign.

The 24-year-old scored 20 and created 14 in 33 games for RB Leipzig, helping them secure a place in the Champions League under Domenico Tedesco. In all competitions, Nkunku contributed 54 goals (35 goals, 19 assists).

Speaking about his future to Téléfoot, Nkunku said he was flattered by interest shown in him but was also happy to hear that RB Leipzig are doing everything possible to keep the Frenchman at the Bundesliga side.
