BUNDESLIGA PREDICTIONS | Round 5

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: Bayer Leverkusen vs Freiburg

Bayer Leverkusen have had a poor start to the season but I will be fascinated to see whether Callum Hudson-Odoi will make his debut for Die Werkself. Freiburg, in the meantime, have continued from their immense 2021/22 season and could very well take all three points here. Although I tipped a 3-1 Leverkusen victory, I think this game will be quite tight with Leverkusen securing all three points late.

Stefans Game of the Week: Union Berlin vs Bayern Munich

While it may not be the TopSpiel according to the Bundesliga, there’s no doubt that all eyes will be on Union Berlin vs Bayern Munich this week. The capital club have astounded fans and neutrals alike with their ability to continue punching upwards in the German top flight and they welcome Bayern to their famous stadium on Saturday as an in-form side full of confidence. Julian Nagelsmann’s side should have enough firepower to pick up all three points but it certainly won’t be an easy fight.

Manu’s predictions:

  • Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Hoffenheim
  • Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 Freiburg
  • Union Berlin 2-2 Bayern Munich
  • Wolfsburg 1-1 FC Köln
  • Bochum 1-2 Werder Bremen
  • Stuttgart 2-1 Schalke
  • Eintracht Frankfurt 0-3 RB Leipzig
  • Augsburg 1-2 Hertha Berlin
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-2 Mainz

Stefan’s predictions:

  • Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Hoffenheim
  • Bayer Leverkusen 2-2 Freiburg
  • Bochum 1-2 Werder Bremen
  • Stuttgart 0-0 Schalke
  • Union Berlin 2-3 Bayern Munich
  • Wolfsburg 0-1 FC Köln
  • Eintracht Frankfurt 0-2 RB Leipzig
  • Augsburg 1-0 Hertha Berlin
  • Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-1 Mainz
