Borussia Dortmund’s Hans-Joachim Watzke on Cristiano Ronaldo: “There’s no contact at all.”

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has commented on reports that the Bundesliga side are allegedly interested in signing Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I love this player. Seeing Cristiano Ronaldo at the Signal Iduna Park is certainly a charming idea. But there’s no contact at all between those involved, so you should stop talking about it,” Watzke told Ruhr Nachrichten.

It was reported on Thursday that Jorge Mendes offered Ronaldo to Borussia Dortmund. However, the Portuguese forward earns a reported €29m net salary and would break BVB’s wage structure, whilst they recently completed the signing of Anthony Modeste to replace Sébastien Haller as the No. 9, and they don’t want to place another forward ahead of Youssoufa Moukoko.

Borussia Dortmund host Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon as they look to maintain their 100% winning start to their season. Edin Terzić hinted in his pre-match press conference that Niklas Süle and Karim Adeyemi could return to the squad following injuries.
