Borussia Dortmund to hold meeting with Manuel Akanji’s representatives to discuss future

Manuel Akanji travelled to Borussia Dortmund’s Bad Ragaz training camp on Friday and still wants to leave the Bundesliga club but according to Sport1, the 26-year-old central-defender has rejected offers from several unnamed Serie A clubs in the past few days.

The Switzerland international dreams of a move to the Premier League, preferably to Manchester United, where he would link up with former teammate Jadon Sancho. However, United’s new coach Erik ten Hag has recently emphasised that his current focus is to strengthen the midfield and attack.

Representatives of Akanji are monitoring the situation in Italy. Inter could be interested should Milan Škriniar join PSG, who could see Abou Diallo and Thilo Kehrer depart. Napoli could also be an option following the departure of Kalidou Koulibaly to Chelsea on Saturday morning.

Currently in Bad Ragaz, Sport1 report that there will be a meeting between Borussia Dortmund officials and Akanji’s advisors in the next few days to discuss the defender’s future. Akanji has just 12 months remaining on his current deal and both parties want clarity on the player’s future.
