Borussia Dortmund have a plan for Ansgar Knauff

As reported by Ruhr Nachrichten, Borussia Dortmund have a plan in mind for how they would like to use Ansgar Knauff if he is to return from his loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, this comes after Frankfurt were to begin negotiations over potentially keeping the 20-year-old.

Dortmund plans to use Knauff as competition for Karim Adeyemi and Donyell Malen on the right wing with both having underperformed since their moves from RB Salzburg and PSV. Dortmund will also then extend Knauff’s contract, which expires in the summer of 2024. Edin Terzic has proven to be a big fan of Knauff and gave him his debut for Dortmund in March 2021 against FC Köln.

However, Frankfurt want to keep Knauff and begin negotiating over the permanent signing of the youngster. At Frankfurt Knauff has been a key player in the side playing mainly as a right/left wing-back, and was key in their run in the Europa League win last season scoring against both Barcelona and West Ham.

The decision is ultimately down to Knauff.
