Bernd Leno seeks Arsenal departure

PSV are interested in signing 30-year-old goalkeeper Bernd Leno from Arsenal, according to Kicker.

The Germany international has lost his No. 1 spot to Aaron Ramsdale and would be open to leaving the Premier League club in search of football in order to boost his chances of making Hansi Flick’s Germany squad for the 2022 World Cup after failing to make Flick’s latest selection.

Leno has just one-year remaining on his current deal and would be free to leave Arsenal in 2023, this summer being the last opportunity that the North London club can collect a good transfer fee for the German stopper.

Newly-promoted Premier League side have also shown an interest in signing Leno, whilst former interested side, Newcastle United, instead opted for Nick Pope from relegation Burnley.

Leno has played 122 games in all competitions for Arsenal since his €25m move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2018 but played just seven games for the Gunners last season.
