Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano not for sale this summer

Contrary to reports, Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano is not for sale this summer, according to Sky Germany.

This comes after the Frenchman changed agencies but it’s since known that this is because his personal agent, Raquel Rosa, switched agencies and took her clients with her.

It had also been suggested that Chelsea are interested in signing Upamecano after losing both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger on free transfers this summer, but Julian Nagelsmann is firmly planning with the 23-year-old central-defender, despite their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus.

Since his €42.5m move from RB Leipzig last summer, Upamecano has played 38 games in all competitions. Nagelsmann, who also coached the France international at Leipzig, is convinced of his qualities despite a sub-par first season in Munich.

At the moment, Bayern are well stocked in the central-defensive department with Upamecano, Lucas Hernandez, Tanguy Nianzou and Benjamin Pavard. Sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić was in Turin on Monday to negotiate with Juventus officials for the transfer of De Ligt but so far, it appears that both clubs are far apart in their valuation.
