Bayern Munich without Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller against Mainz

Bayern Munich will be without Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller for their upcoming games against Mainz on Saturday and Inter on Tuesday, Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed.

“Manuel Neuer is out,” said Julian Nagelsmann. “We’re looking forward to next weekend. His training yesterday was good and things are going well in the weight room. He’s also out against Inter. Everyone apart from Thomas Müller, who played in the Champions League, will be fit tomorrow.”

Neuer has missed Bayern’s last five games across all competitions with a shoulder injury. At the moment, his participation at the World Cup next month isn’t under threat: “I want him to come back quickly,” added Nagelsmann.

“We’re working towards next weekend. We can’t look inside his body. The shoulder is a complicated joint that needs rest. I firmly believe that he will play at the World Cup. We’re doing everything for that. The corner joint just needs rest but he has no structural injury.”

As for Müller, Nagelsmann stated he had an irritation in his hip and won’t play. “He won’t be able to play tomorrow, probably not on Tuesday either. We’ll probably take him out for a week to give him a break. We’ll see about next weekend.”

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game against Mainz, Nagelsmann also confirmed that Lucas Hernandez is expected to resume team training next week.
