Bayern Munich want Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt

Bayern Munich want to sign Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt this summer and the Dutchman also wants to join the Bundesliga champions, according to Sky Germany.

According to Florian Plettenberg and Marc Behrenbeck, negotiations between the two clubs are going and De Ligt is Bayern’s dream player for the central-defence.

The Netherlands international has already had talks with head coach Julian Nagelsmann and sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić, of which De Ligt was impressed by.

Bayern Munich showed previous interest in signing De Ligt before he joined Juventus from Ajax in 2019. The 22-year-old also knows Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch well from his time at Ajax.

However, a potential block would be the fee that Juventus demand. De Ligt has a release clause of €120m but would be willing to talk for around €80m. After signing Sadio Mané from Liverpool last month, the Bundesliga side may struggle to go higher than €60m.

Bayern Munich also face competition from Chelsea to sign De Ligt.
