Bayern Munich plan Alexander Nübel contract extension

Speaking to Sport Bild, Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić confirmed that the Bundesliga champions would like to extend the contract of Alexander Nübel, who is currently on loan at AS Monaco.

“Bayern are planning with Alexander Nübel in the long term because we believe in his quality and we want to secure the goalkeeping position in the future,” said Salihamidžić. “Alex played a very good season in Monaco and kept 11 clean sheets. It’s also thanks to him that Monaco that they still have a chance to reach the Champions League.

“We can very well imagine extending his contract. We’ll speak to Alex and his agent and find the best solution for him and the club. We’re happy that Manuel Neuer extended until 2024 and we’re very happy with Alex’s development.”

Neuer recently signed a contract extension until 2024 but Bayern Munich firmly believe that Nübel can be his successor. The 25-year-old will spend the 2022/23 season on loan at Monaco after a successful first season at the Principality club.
