Barcelona preparing new bid for Robert Lewandowski

Barcelona are continuing their pursuit of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski and are preparing to submit a new bid, according to Fabrizio Romano

The Italian journalist has reported that Barça president Joan Laporta has a great relationship with Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi which has helped keep a verbal agreement on personal terms alive.

Bayern have already rejected an initial offer for the Polish international when Barça offered €32m plus €5m in bonuses.

It’s believed that Barça’s new offer could surpass the €40m mark.

In an interview with a Polish media outlet a few weeks back, the 33-year-old said: “I think it’s better for Bayern to invest the money you can get for me than to keep me until the end of the contract. I don’t want to force anything, that’s not the point. It’s about finding the best solution.”

Lewandowski is currently under contract until 2023 but is unwilling to sign an extension. This has kickstarted a rather fascinating transfer saga as Bayern may be forced to sell or play an unhappy player before losing him on a free transfer the following summer.
