As reported by Patrick Berger of Sport1, Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement in principle with 34-year-old FC Köln striker Anthony Modeste for a one-year contract.
Borussia Dortmund have submitted an opening offer to FC Köln for Modeste, who would arrive at the Westfalenstadion as a replacement for Sébastien Haller, who is out for the foreseeable after undergoing surgery to remove a testicular tumour. A final agreement between the clubs is still pending.
Per the report, BVB are willing to pay around €4m and €5m to sign Modeste. They want to find a Haller replacement but for the total package to be no more than €10m.
Modeste scored 20 goals in 32 Bundesliga games for Köln last season, but has entered the final year of his contract with the Billy Goats and is reportedly dissatisfied with his situation at Köln. Although an extension was desirable, the French striker would have to take a pay cut on his €3.5m salary.
