Soumaila Coulibaly: “Borussia Dortmund is the right club for me.”

Speaking through the club’s official channels, summer arrival Soumaila Coulibaly (17) from Paris Saint-Germain discussed his relationship with Dan-Axel Zagadou, his first few weeks at Borussia Dortmund and his decision to join the Bundesliga club.

“Borussia Dortmund was simply the best team for me. When I came to Dortmund to take a look at everything prior to my transfer, I spoke with Michael Zorc and Sebastian Kehl and had a good feeling that BVB would be the right club for me to continue my development,” said Coulibaly.

Both Zagadou and Coulibaly joined Borussia Dortmund at 17 and have since developed a relationship during rehab whilst recovering from injuries.

“Daxo is like a big brother,” said Coulibaly. “The first week was slightly difficult but since Daxo got here it has been easier for me. He helps me when I have questions and he translates for me. Like he is know. I also speak a lot with Rapha and Abdou but I get on well with my other teammates as well.”

The Frenchman has not yet been able to take part in training but has settled in well to life at Borussia Dortmund. “I have been warmly welcomed by the other players and I feel comfortable,” added Coulibaly.

“I have already been to the stadium and I’m looking forward to finally having the chance to play there.”
