RB Leipzig in negotiations to sign Mohamed Simakan – interest from Borussia Dortmund & Gladbach

Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan will pick between joining Italian side AC Milan or Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, according to Sky Germany.

Representatives of the 20-year-old are currently in negotiations with both clubs and Simakan is expected to make a decision this month.

RB Leipzig would allow Strasbourg to keep the central-defender on loan for the remainder of the season whilst Milan would like to sign Simakan permanently during the current transfer window.

Bundesliga duo Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach have also made enquiries in signing the Frenchman but only in the coming summer. Per the report, Simakan would like to leave Strasbourg in January.

Simakan has been identified as a long-term replacement for Dayot Upamecano, who could leave RB Leipzig in the coming summer. As reported via our colleagues at Get French Football News, the right-sided defender was the subject of four formal bids from Milan in the previous window.
