Omar Richards passes Bayern Munich medical – Sky Germany

Reading defender Omar Richards has agreed a four-year contract with Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich and has passed a medical, according to Sky Germany.

The 23-year-old reached an agreement with Bayern Munich in February after Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić and chief scout Marco Neppe put a lot of effort into signing Richards.

Richards will join the Bundesliga side when his Reading contract expires in the summer, and will act as back-up to Alphonso Davies, but can also provide cover at centre-back.

The Englishman has played 92 games in all competitions for Reading and has also featured once for the England youth team. Richards will be the second player to arrive at Bayern Munich following the signing of RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

Salihamidžić had also identified Borna Sosa (Stuttgart), Marco Friedl (Werder Bremen) and Luca Netz (Hertha Berlin) had they missed out on Richards.

Richards will sign a contract until 2025.
