Official | Stuttgart head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo signs contract extension

Stuttgart have today announced the contract extension of head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo until 2024 with his previous deal due to expire in 18 months.

“I feel very much at home at Stuttgart,” said Matarazzo. “Together with Thomas Hitzlsperger, Sven Mislintat and Markus Rüdt, we’ve initiated a very positive development. I really enjoy working with all of the team. We want to take the next steps together. I’d like to thank everyone responsible at VfB for their trust and look forward to the future.”

According to Kicker, the new contract will include a salary increase and a release clause that will come into effect in 2023.

Matarazzo took charge from Tim Walter in 2019 and guided Stuttgart to promotion last summer. Stuttgart currently sit midtable in the Bundesliga (10th) under the 43-year-old, just seven points behind European football.

“Rino identifies with Stuttgart and the chosen path to play attractive and successful football with young and capable players,” added Stuttgart CEO Hitzlsperger.
