Hansi Flick reacts to Bayern Munich defeat: “We’re just human but I’m still proud of the team.”

Speaking after Bayern Munich’s 2-1 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt, head coach Hansi Flick discussed the loss, Leon Goretzka’s substitute appearance and Eintracht’s form.

“We didn’t get into the game,” said Flick. “Eintracht played with a lot of pace. If we play the way we did in the second half for 90 minutes, the winner would be different.

“We’ve had a turbulent few weeks. We’re just human but I’m still proud of the team.”

Bayern Munich were without Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry and Benjamin Pavard whilst Leon Goretzka was only fit enough for the bench.

“We have many injured and [Covid] infected players,” added Flick. “I didn’t think that Leon Goretzka would show such a strong performance when he came into the game. He helped us and brought a positive energy onto the pitch.”

Flick also had praise for today’s opponents: “Frankfurt are on a sensational run but they can still improve the pitch a little bit. That’s something we don’t like to see.”
