Mohamed Simakan has agreed personal terms with RB Leipzig

According to Sky Germany, 20-year-old Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan has agreed personal terms with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

The German club are yet to submit an offer for Simakan, who is convinced by the footballing project at RB Leipzig – the Frenchman has also attracted concrete interest from Serie A club AC Milan.

RB Leipzig are also expected to allow Simakan to remain on loan at Strasbourg for the remainder of the season.

As reported by our colleagues at Get French Football News, Simakan was the subject of four formal bids from Milan in the summer transfer window but it appears that RB Leipzig are now leading the race to the right-sided defender.

Simakan is seen as a long term replacement for 22-year-old defender Dayot Upamecano, who is expected to leave RB Leipzig in the summer despite signing a recent contract extension – the Frenchman has a contract until 2023 but it is widely expected that a club will active his release clause during the summer window.
