Kostas Mavropanos open to extending Stuttgart loan

VfB Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos can imagine staying at the Bundesliga club beyond the summer when his loan deal expires.

On loan from Premier League Arsenal, the 23-year-old told Stuttgarter Nachrichten: “My deal with Stuttgart ends in the summer and then I will be returning to Arsenal, but I can imagine spending another year here because I feel comfortable and the Bundesliga is very challenging.”

VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat is also open to Mavropanos extending his stay: “We are super happy that he has been a regular starter in recent weeks,” said the 48-year-old.

“We would like to keep him on loan for another season if possible, but that depends on Arsenal.”

Mavropanos has played 14 Bundesliga games for Stuttgart this season and has started the last seven games under head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo.
