Julian Nagelsmann: “We didn’t show enough emotion.”

RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann has reacted to the German side’s exit to Liverpool in the Champions League after suffering a 4-0 aggregate defeat.

“We don’t want to lose but sometimes you just have to admit the opponent was better,” said Nagelsmann. “We have to accept it.

“We have to admit we are angry and sad but it’s well deserved for Liverpool to go through to the next round. There are lessons to be learned. We didn’t show enough emotion on the pitch. The experience from the first leg was at the back of people’s minds still.

“Today, we had a bad start. It took us a while to adjust. Liverpool weren’t pressing much and let us have the ball,” added Nagelsmann. “We didn’t have that many moments and had a very slow build-up. We had a lot of possession in defence but couldn’t take it into midfield.”

RB Leipzig are two points behind leaders Bayern Munich and face Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Sunday afternoon.
