Kicker report today that Borussia Mönchengladbach are in advanced talks to sign 19-year-old midfielder Manu Koné from Toulouse for a fee up to €9 million.
A deal between both clubs is expected to be reached this month and as reported via our colleagues at Get French Football News, Koné has agreed a provisional 5.5 year contract the Bundesliga side – the French youth international would spend the remainder of the 2020/21 season on loan at Ligue 2 side Toulouse.
AC Milan had also shown significant interest and had made an offer of €5m but with the likelihood that Borussia Mönchengladbach will lose Denis Zakaria in the summer, sporting director Max Eberl was quick to find a replacement whilst the prospect of playing under Marco Rose at Borussia Mönchengladbach remains an exciting opportunity.
Koné has played 18 Ligue 2 games for Toulouse this season and has played 35 in all competitions since making his debut in 2019. He would join French internationals Alassane Pléa and Marcus Thuram at Gladbach.
