According to Bild, representatives of 22-year-old RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano held a secret meeting with Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić on Friday.
Talks between agents Sascha Breese, Volker Struth and Bayern SD Salihamidžić lasted 2.5 hours but neither Struth nor Bayern Munich wanted to comment on the meeting, when asked by Bild. However, Bayern Munich have shown concrete interest in signing the France international.
Just last week, Sport Bild reported that Upamecano is at the top of Bayern Munich’s shortlist as they seek a replacement for David Alaba, who is yet to sign a contract extension and is expected to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in the summer.
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge last week confirmed their interest in signing Upamecano: “We will of course deal with it, not only with this player, but in principle on the positions where we want to do and have to do something.”
The Frenchman has played 24 games in all competitions for RB Leipzig this season.
