Denis Zakaria: “For now, I’m very happy at Gladbach.”

Speaking to Sport1, Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria has played down talks of a move to one of Europe’s big clubs this transfer window.

“I haven’t talked to anyone about a transfer,” said Zakaria. “I’m focused on Gladbach and still have a year and a half contract here. I don’t have a career plan but I’ve always dreamed of played for one of the biggest clubs in the world since I was a young player.

“To achieve that at some point, I have to work here in Gladbach. For now, I’m very happy at Borussia.”

Zakaria has been linked with both Manchester United and Bayern Munich in recent transfer windows after impressing for Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The 24-year-old has a contract with the Bundesliga side until 2022. Zakaria has played just seven Bundesliga games this season but has spent much of 2020 out with a serious knee injury.

Speaking prior to the Bundesliga season starting, Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl stated that he wants to keep his best players at the club.
