Chelsea & Manchester United interested in Jadon Sancho – Sport1

According to Sport1, Chelsea have joined fellow Premier League side Manchester United in the race to sign 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.

Per the report, they suggest that Borussia Dortmund may have to sell one of Sancho of striker Erling Braut Haaland which is down to two reasons: BVB have a financial deficit of around €75 million, due to the Coronavirus pandemic but also, the appointment of a new head coach would mean new arrivals, resulting in potential departures.

Haaland has a €75 million release clause that comes into effect in 2022 and so like Sancho, BVB would be free to negotiate a price on either player.

If Borussia Dortmund, who occupy sixth in the Bundesliga, miss out on Champions League football next season, there’s also an increased risk of further sales.

Manchester United had shown concrete interest in signing Sancho last summer but Borussia Dortmund took a strong stance. And this summer would likely be a similar story. BVB would only sell if a club pays the fee that they want.
