Borussia Dortmund in contract extension talks with Mats Hummels

WAZ report today that the contract extension of Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels will be automatically extended by one year if the German defender plays 22 competitive games this season.

The Bundesliga side are also in talks to extend the contract of Hummels regardless of the automatic extension and per Sport1, discussions took place prior to EURO 2020 with a new deal would running until 2023 with the option for another year – although nothing has yet been agreed.

The 32-year-old re-joined Borussia Dortmund from Bayern Munich in 2019 and has played 64 Bundesliga games since his return to the Westfalenstadion for €30m.
