Bayer Leverkusen interested in Matthias Ginter

BILD report today that Bayer Leverkusen are showing concrete interest in signing 27-year-old Borussia Mönchengladbach central defender Matthias Ginter after missing out on Kristoffer Ajer.

Leverkusen had agreed a deal in principle with Ajer but with just one-year remaining on his current deal, were unable to reach an agreement with Celtic.

And so, the Bundesliga side have turned their attention towards Gladbach defender Ginter, who has just 12 months remaining on his contract and is yet to agree an extension. Per the report, a figure around €15m-€20m should be enough to tempt Die Fohlen into selling.

A central defender remains top priority for Bayer Leverkusen following an injury to Edmond Tapsoba and Tin Jedvaj expected to join Lokomotiv Moscow, leaving them with Jonathan Tah and Panagiotis Retsos.
