Bayer Leverkusen have an agreement in principle with Lucas Alario for a new deal until 2024

According to Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement in principle with 28-year-old Argentine striker Lucas Alario about a new contract.

Alario’s current deal expires in 2022 but a new deal will see him tied to the club until 2024. This comes after the Bundesliga side seemingly ended their pursuit of Zenit St. Petersburg forward Sardar Azmoun.

There had been several reports suggesting that Alario would leave B04 this transfer window with Azmoun coming in as a replacement. However, a total package for the Iran international would amount to around €30 million, a significant fee even with the imminent departure of Leon Bailey.
