AS Monaco want Alexander Nübel on loan

Ligue 1 side AS Monaco are interested in signing Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nübel on a two-year loan deal, according to Kicker.

The 24-year-old joined the Bundesliga champions on a five-year contract last summer and was signed as an eventual successor to Manuel Neuer but with playing time hard to come by, Nübel and Bayern could part ways much earlier.

Nübel is contractually obliged to play ten competitive games this season but has featured just twice for Bayern Munich and per the report, he could, in theory, potentially terminate his agreement with the Bundesliga leaders.

Board member Oliver Kahn also hinted that Neuer could yet sign a contract extension beyond 2023 which would see Nübel’s playing time limited.

Bayern Munich have also shown an interest in signing Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega who could serve as Neuer’s No. 2, allowing Nübel to join Monaco on loan.
