Patrick Berger of Sport1 reported this morning that 21-year-old Schalke midfielder left the club’s training camp in Austria and is on his way to Turn ahead of the American’s loan move to Juventus.
The United States international will undergo a medical with the Italian champions ahead of a season-long loan deal with an option to buy.
Juventus will pay Schalke €6 million for the initial loan which becomes an obligation to buy of around €18m once McKennie has played a specific number of games for the Serie A club.
Schalke have played hardball over the €25m asking price they’ve placed on McKennie, putting off Premier League club Southampton. But with a need to sell before they can buy, Juventus have now positioned themselves in pole position to complete the signing of the American.
