Negotiations between FC Köln and Lokomotiv Moscow defender Benedikt Höwedes have broken down, according to Kicker.
The Bundesliga club were interested in signing the 31-year-old on a six-month loan deal but with no guarantee of the loan becoming a permanent deal in the summer, Höwedes will likely remain at Lokomotiv for the remainder of the season.
Höwedes had been willing to take a pay cut to join Köln, who will now seemingly turn their attentions elsewhere.
