Schalke have internally labelled River Plate defender Gonzalo Montiel as an “interesting” player as they search for a new right-back, according to Bild.
Jonjoe Kenny has returned to Everton but the Bundesliga club could yet secure another loan move for the Englishman, who impressed bosses at Schalke last season.
Montiel has four caps for Argentina and has a market value of €8 million.
