Rudi Völler on Kai Havertz: “We have not given up hope that he will stay with us.”

According to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, Chelsea have contacted Bayer Leverkusen regarding the transfer of 20-year-old attacker Kai Havertz.

However, Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler remains optimistic the Bundesliga club can keep hold of their prized asset:“We have not given up hope that he will stay with us.”

Bayer Leverkusen have consistently stated that Havertz will not leave the club for any less than €100 million, nor do they have a need to sell the Germany international.

Bayern Munich have also ruled out a move for Havertz this summer with their priority on Manchester City attacker Leroy Sané. Real Madrid have also had an offer turned down by the Bundesliga club, which would have seen the Spanish outfit loan Havertz back until 2021.
