Speaking in an interview with Sport Bild, Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie has slammed Donald Trump and has criticised the United States President for his behaviour.
“I don’t think that Trump is right for the job of President,” said McKennie. “I don’t think he understands the responsibility he has for the entire country. I think he’s ignorant. I don’t support him one bit. In my eyes, you can call him a racist.”
McKennie paid tribute to George Floyd, who died in police custody, with an armband demanding “Justice for George” – which has seen Bundesliga clubs take a knee in solidarity.
