RB Leipzig target Mohamed Simakan as potential Dayot Upamecano replacement

Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are interested in signing 19-year-old Strasbourg defender Mohamed Simakan, according to Sky Germany.

A report from our colleagues at Get French Football News also suggest a host of other European clubs have an interest in the youngster, with AC Milan already opening negotiations to sign the player.

Borussia Dortmund had planned to send representatives to France to watch the youngster, before football was suspended due to the ongoing health crisis.

Sky report today that RB Leipzig have held initial talks with the French club, who are holding out for €20 million for Simakan.

However, given the ongoing crisis, interested clubs will look to use this to their advantage to drive the price down.

The Bundesliga club see the right-sided defender as a direct replacement for Dayot Upamecano, should he leave.
