RB Leipzig beat Leeds United to sign Joško Gvardiol for €17m

RB Leipzig have beaten Premier League club Leeds United in the race to sign 18-year-old Croatian defender Joško Gvardiol, according to Bild.

The Bundesliga club will pay a base fee of €17 million which could rise to €19m through bonuses, Dinamo Zagreb also retain a sell-on percentage in the player.

Gvardiol will not join the club until January 2021 at the earliest, only a sale of Dayot Upaemcano would see the young defender join RB Leipzig before next summer.

Both Bayern Munich and Lille had also shown interest in the Croatia youth international.
