Official | Liverpool Women sign Meikayla Moore from MSV Duisburg

New Zealand international Meikayla Moore has departed the Frauen-Bundesliga and will play for Liverpool Women in England’s FA Women’s Championship, the second tier of football in the country, after the reds were relegated from the top flight last year.

The Christchurch-born defender started her senior career with 1. FC Köln where she made eight appearances for the billy goats before moving 70km north to MSV Duisburg.

She played for Die Zebras for two years, returning to the side for the culmination of the Frauen-Bundesliga this year after suffering an injury playing for the Ferns during last year’s World Cup, and helped to guide her side to top-flight safety on goal difference.

Reflecting on her time in Germany, Moore told LiverpoolFC.com: “It was certainly a very good first step. The league in Germany is very strong and when you play against the likes of Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich the players there are pretty phenomenal so I think it’s put me in a good place to come to the UK and kick on here.

“The league here is going up and up and I think it’s a really exciting time for women’s football, especially in England, and I’m just so excited and happy to be here.”

The established international, who has made over forty appearances for her country, may feature for the Reds when they start their Championship campaign at home to Durham on the 5th September.
