Michael Ballack regrets leaving Chelsea: “I hoped that I could stay until the end.”

In an interview with Kicker, former Bayern Munich and Germany international midfielder Michael Ballack regrets leaving Chelsea in 2010.

“Today I can say that it was probably wrong [to leave Chelsea]. I should have stayed even if it had only been for a year. Up until the last day, I really thought we would somehow be able to come to an agreement with Chelsea. I really hoped that I could stay until the end.”

Ballack joined Chelsea on a free transfer in 2006 before going on to play 167 games for the Premier League club in all competitions, scoring 25 and creating 24.
