Borussia Mönchengladbach and 26-year-old central defender Matthias Ginter will resume contract extension talks once the COVID-19 pandemic has de-escalated.
Ginter currently has one-year remaining on his current deal and whilst Borussia Mönchengladbach have the option to extend that by a further season, the Bundesliga club would like to tie the Germany international down to a long-term contract.
“The talks have time, there are more important things now. The club has to deal with more urgent issues,” Ginter told Kicker.
“In general, I can imagine staying at Borussia for the long term. But let’s see how the future looks. Now other issues have priority. No one is under time pressure on this issue.”
