Manuel Akanji on racism against Jordan Torunarigha: “If something like this happens to us, we will leave the field as a team.”

Speaking to Watson news outlet, Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji discussed what they would do in a racism incident like the one that happened to Hertha BSC defender Jordan Torunarigha.

“This incident was also an issue for us in the cabin. I spoke to my team-mates Dan-Axel Zagadou, Axel Witsel, Thorgan Hazard and Raphael Guerreiro about how we would have done in the field. And we agreed that – if something like this happens to us, we will leave the field as a team,” said Akanji.

“We would definitely have the support of the whole team. Solidarity is very important in this matter. I also believe that BVB, which is always clearly against racism, would support us unconditionally in this matter.”
