Borussia Dortmund announce new Bundesliga shirt sponsor

Borussia Dortmund have announced a new sponsor for their Bundesliga kits commencing in the 2020/21 season. Telecommunications company 1&1 will take over as the club’s shirt sponsor in the Bundesliga.

Current sponsor, Evonik, has paved the way for this innovative new model by choosing to redirect the focus of its long-running partnership with BVB on international target groups, meaning the club will have two shirt sponsors.

The Evonik logo will be used on all friendly matches played abroad, all international competitions and all rounds of the DFB Cup.

“Our long-running partnership with Evonik is one which has been defined by a shared sense of passion and trust. We are determined to keep this partnership going at the highest level,” said CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke.

Although 1&1’s logo is blue and white, the colours of BVB’s arch rivals, Schalke, will not be placed on the Borussia shirts. Instead, the logo will be in black and white.

Per reports, BVB are expecting a revenue increase to around €40 million annually.
