Bayern Munich show interest in French youth international Lucien Agoumé

Bayern Munich are interested in signing 18-year-old French youth international midfielder Lucien Agoumé as a replacement for Javi Martínez, according to Sport Bild.

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, his agent Oscar Damiani said: “He is one of the best young players in Europe but in Italy the coaches don’t have the courage to let young players play.”

On loan at Spezia Calcio from Inter Milan, Agoumé has played just 98 minutes of Serie A football this season. The young central midfielder has a contract with Inter until 2023.

Whilst a contract extension hasn’t been ruled out, it’s likely that Martínez will depart Bayern Munich in the summer after joining the German champions in 2012.

The 32-year-old has a contract with Bayern until June 2021 and is free to negotiate with other clubs in January.

Speaking at Bayern’s presser prior to their Champions League game vs Atlético Madrid earlier in the week, Martínez hinted that he would like to join a new club: “I’ve had some great years here, let’s see what happens. I would like to try something new before the end of my career. I have no preferences.”
