Bayer Leverkusen hold talks to sign Stefan Ortega

Bayer Leverkusen are in negotiations to sign Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, according to Kicker.

The 27-year-old is out of contract in the summer and is available on a free transfer with the Bundesliga club interested in signing the German as a back-up to Lukáš Hrádecký.

However, Ortega has asked for Bundesliga football and may not be open to a move as a No. 2 whilst 2. Bundesliga leaders Arminia are hopeful the stopper will sign a contract extension.

“My feeling tells me that all sides are interested in further cooperation,” said Arminia sporting director Samir Arabi.
