Arsenal target Omar Rekik allowed to leave Hertha Berlin for €600,000

Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin have given permission to 19-year-old defender Omar Rekik to undergo a medical in the event of a transfer, according to Bild.

With six months remaining on his contract, Hertha would allow Rekik to leave for €600,000. Arsenal have shown concrete interest in signing the Dutch central-defender but face competition from Europa League champions Sevilla.

The Spanish side have made initial contact with Hertha BSC regarding a transfer. His brother, Karim, joined Sevilla on the final day of the summer transfer window.

Rekik has yet to make his Bundesliga debut but has sat on the bench three times for Hertha, the 19-year-old has also featured eight times for Hertha’s second team in the fourth tier.

After failing to sign Rekik in the summer, Arsenal will attempt another move with academy coach Per Mertesacker keen to add the youngster to his squad.
