Thomas Tuchel is Bayern Munich’s desired candidate

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge contacted PSG manager Thomas Tuchel following the departure of Niko Kovač and the German is his desired candidate to take charge of Bayern Munich, according to Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk.

Tuchel has a good relationship with current Bayern interim coach Hansi Flick which could see the 54-year-old remain at the Allianz Arena as an assistant coach.

It’s known that Mauricio Pochettino would bring in a large coaching team which would likely see Flick depart the club, something Bayern bosses don’t want.

Sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić had been an advocate of Pochettino but met with Tuchel for negotiations in 2018 before the appointment of Kovač, and so he’d be open to Tuchel taking up the vacant position.
