Speaking during an event hosted by Gazzetta dello Sport, Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge discussed the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti and Franck Ribéry’s decision to join Fiorentina.
On sacking Ancelotti..
“I remember when I had to dismiss Ancelotti. I cried. Carlo understood the situation and hugged me. He said ‘it’s OK, you’re not my boss anymore but we’re still friends.’ I had to cry, he wasn’t angry. I realised what a great person he is.”
On Franck Ribéry…
“We were a little surprised that he went to Italy and to Fiorentina, everyone thought he was going to China or Saudi Arabia. He has made a choice for football & I’m glad he’s doing well.”
