Official | VfB Stuttgart sack Tayfun Korkut

Stuttgart have sacked manager Tayfun Korkut after a stretch of six matches without a win in the last seven.

“After an intensive discussion following the Bundesliga away match against Hannover 96, the decision was made to exempt Tayfun Korkut and his two assistant coaches Ilija Aračić and Steven Cherundolo from their duties with immediate effect,” the official statement read.

Former reserve team coach Andreas Hinkel has been appointed manager on an interim basis. He will be joined by Matthias Schiffers (athletic coach), Marco Langner (goalkeeping coach) and Andreas Schumacher (NLZ).

Korkut was appointed by the club in January and led them to a respectable seventh place finish. However, Die Roten have failed to make an impact under him this season, and currently sit bottom of the table.
