On the day that Emil Forsberg signed a contract extension until 2022, RB Leipzig announced that they will no longer continue with the U23 side, joining Bayer Leverkusen in Bundesliga teams that no longer have an U23 team.
In a restructure, RB Leipzig will focus on their U19 side, whilst they will select a number of players to train with the first team, as opposed to the U23 side who would have played in the fourth tier of German football.
