1. FC Köln have confirmed that Jhon Córdoba will join the club on a four-year deal.
The Colombian has scored 13 goals for 1. FSV Mainz 05 in 59 games, which warranted a €15m (via Transfermarkt) move to Köln, who will be playing Europa League football next season.
“Jhon Córdoba is a center forward with speed, physicality, and a direct line to goal. He has a lot of experience for his age, but we still see him as a player with plenty of potential,” sporting director Jörg Schmadtke told the club’s website.
Córdoba added: “1. FC Köln is the right step for me following two great years in Mainz. The representatives of FC were very active in their pursuit of me and I wanted to take the opportunity to play for one of Germany’s great traditional clubs both in the league and in the Europa League.
“I was already able to experience the wonderful atmosphere of the RheinEnergieStadion on Matchday 34. I am looking forward to lining up there in the home kit.”
