Mikel Merino is to be unveiled as a Newcastle United player on Friday, according to Kicker. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder completed his medical on Wednesday.
Last week, the Spaniard had been close to joining Athletic Club but after just nine games for BVB, Mikel will join Newcastle United.
The 21-year-old will join on an initial loan deal with option to purchase, according to the German outlet, whilst regional journalists in north east England suggest it’s an obligation to buy.
