Leon Goretzka attracting interest from Europe’s biggest clubs

After reaching an agreement to sign Virgin van Dijk, Liverpool have now turned their attentions towards Schalke and Germany midfielder Leon Goretzka, according to Bild.

The 22-year-old is available on a free transfer in the summer while Goretzka is expected to announce his future in January, with a contract extension at Schalke still on the cards.

According to the report, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Juventus have all shown interest in the Germany international.

If Goretzka was to sign a contract extension, then a potential suitor may have to pay in upward of €40 million to sign the dynamic midfielder.

UPDATE: SportBild are tonight reporting that Goretzka will sign for Bayern Munich, while Spanish outlet Marca have said that both Barcelona and Real Madrid are out of the race to sign the Germany international.

As previously reported, Goretzka is expected to decide on his future in the next couple of weeks, once he returns to Schalke following the winter break.
